Route changes

The passenger line will connect key recreational areas across the city, including Hutoupi Lake, Xinhua Park, and the tourist attractions located between them.

• Original plan: Four stations—Hutoupi, Lakeside Hotel, Lakeside Hill Town, and Xinhua Forest Farm.
• Current plan: In the first phase, only the section covering the first three stations will be built. Construction of the fourth station has been temporarily postponed because its proposed location requires approval of amendments to Tainan’s urban planning documents.

Project timeline

Following several delays caused by administrative procedures and the transfer of documents, the city administration held a coordination meeting on August 11. The following schedule was approved:

• September: Start of a three-month public consultation period.
• December: Completion of the tender process and selection of a contractor.

The project to build the Harjamukti–Mekarsari feeder line in Indonesia has advanced to another important stage. UST Inc.’s regional partner, Unitsky Nusantara Technologies, has officially submitted the final feasibility study report to the Directorate General of Railways at Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation. The first line will be 12.8 kilometers long and served by dozens of uPods, each able to carry up to 25 passengers.

Nepal’s government has approved the implementation of string transport as part of its national transportation policy. According to Oleg Zaretsky, Director of the engineering company uScovery DMCC, the technology is regarded as one of the highest priorities for developing the region’s passenger transportation network.

Engineers from UST Inc. visited the XinGuangZheng plant in Qingdao, Shandong Province, to oversee the manufacturing process and preliminary assembly of the support structures for the transport complex at the Sosny health resort.

Inside the Inspection

During the visit, the engineering team carried out both visual and instrument-based inspections of the intermediate and anchor support frames. The primary objective was to verify that all structural components fit together correctly before being shipped to the construction site.

The inspection focused on:

• the precise alignment of bolt holes at assembly joints;
• the absence of unacceptable gaps;
• eliminating any out-of-plane distortion (warping) in the connections.

At this stage, the components are intentionally assembled without their anti-corrosion coating. Leaving the steel uncoated allows engineers to detect even the smallest hidden defects and verify that each component matches the design specifications before it leaves the factory.

Production Assessment

Representatives of UST Inc. highly praised the technological capabilities of the XinGuangZheng manufacturing facility. Their Chinese partners demonstrated a strong understanding of the production process and a readiness to promptly address engineering challenges.

“A factory trial assembly is an essential step toward successful installation,” said Konstantin Shutko, Head of the Steel Structures Design Bureau. “It eliminates many potential risks at the manufacturing stage. Bolt holes must align perfectly, while gaps in joints and any out-of-plane distortion are unacceptable. The support frame carries the primary structural load, so manufacturing precision is absolutely critical.”

What's Next?

The manufacturer will now carry out abrasive blast cleaning of the steel surfaces before applying anti-corrosion protective coatings. The completed steel structures are expected to arrive at the construction site within the next month.

SW Plant has begun assembling a passenger electric vehicle specially developed for the uST infrastructure complex at the Sosny health resort in Belarus. The vehicle is designed to provide fast and comfortable transportation for guests between the residential building and the new wellness center.

The project has officially moved from the engineering preparation stage to full-scale production. This milestone follows the extensive development of the manufacturing infrastructure: more than 12,000 components have already been reserved in the company's warehouses.

Work is currently underway in the welding shop, where subassemblies for the load-bearing frame—the foundation of the future vehicle—are being manufactured. In the coming days, specialists will begin welding the main frame. The next stages of the production process include machining, painting, and transferring the structure to the assembly line, where systems and equipment will be assembled piece by piece.

Production volumes at the plant will steadily increase over the coming months. Once the load-bearing structure is complete, work will begin on assembling the body, manufacturing additional assemblies, and integrating the electronic systems and interior components. The final stage will consist of comprehensive testing of the assembled vehicle before it is put into operation.
