One of the most important stages of construction on the rail-string line at Sosny Health Resort is underway: crews have begun installing two anchor supports and one intermediate support. All the necessary metal structures have already been delivered to the site.

Each support plays a distinct role. The anchor supports bear the main horizontal load. These substantial structures rest on large underground reinforced concrete foundations that help ensure the reliability of the entire line. The intermediate support bears mainly vertical loads, so it is much lighter and sleeker and requires less material to build.

Components ordered from China for the enclosed walkways have also arrived on site. The walkways will eventually connect the passenger stations with the resort’s main building and the new spa complex. Installation will begin after the main work on the line is complete: tensioning the steel cables, installing the railhead, and carrying out a series of mandatory tests. Because the line runs close to the water, engineers have paid particular attention to durability. Every metal structure has undergone thorough anticorrosion treatment to protect it from moisture.

The uST project at Sosny Health Resort is a modern single-track line that will run through a picturesque pine forest. Soon, resort guests will be able to travel quickly and comfortably to the spa center on the shore of Lake Naroch, enjoying the surrounding scenery from above.

Preparations to build a string transport infrastructure complex in Biratnagar, Nepal, have formally entered a new phase. Kathmandu Podway Company, a partner of technology developer UST Inc., has submitted a project-specific bank guarantee to the Koshi Province Investment Authority, legally confirming its readiness to carry out the project.

Administrative Status and Route Details

The project is being developed as a public-private partnership (PPP). The planned route, 7 kilometers long, will link a key logistics hub—the Rani-Bhansar crossing on the border with India—with Biratnagar’s central bus terminal.

Key steps in the current preparations:

• Infrastructure approvals: Kathmandu Podway Company has received official permission to use the median of the Koshi Highway for the overpass. This will allow uST systems to be integrated into the existing transport network without acquiring additional valuable land.
• Project office: The company’s local office will begin operating in Biratnagar within the next week.
• Detailed Project Report (DPR): Preparing the engineering and technical documentation will take about a year, with construction and installation work planned to begin afterward.

Talks with Regional Businesses and Potential Route Extensions

Local businesses actively support the introduction of uST systems. At working meetings with Kathmandu Podway, entrepreneurs discussed participating in the project and proposed extending the route. One proposal would extend the logistics corridor from Biratnagar to Dharan and onward to the tourist destination of Bhedetar.

The project’s transition to a public-private partnership confirms uST’s strong international standing. The authorities’ willingness to make highway medians available for overpasses also clearly demonstrates the main advantages of string transport systems: minimal land acquisition and ease of integration with any infrastructure.
